The U.S. Army's Long Endurance Multi-Intelligence Vehicle (LEMV),a blimp capable of autonomous flight, flew for the first time from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., on Aug. 7, 2012.
The US Navy conducted the initial flight of the X-47B Unmanned Combat Air System Demonstrator (UCAS-D). The tailless, unmanned aircraft launched from Pax River and flew for a planned 35 minutes over the Chesapeake Bay on July 30, 2012.
